I’m Angela Maeda, a psychotherapist in private practice on the Eastside of Seattle in Bothell, Washington. I offer therapy for individuals struggling with life transitions, relationship difficulties and problematic emotions.

People who come to see me often feel overwhelmed, stuck or tired of feeling anxious and depressed. Others have a specific issue they are struggling with and desire clarity and guidance. I provide a safe and compassionate place for you to explore, heal and transform your life.

About Me

New Leaf Counseling; A Private Practice, LLC

For as long as I can remember, I have sought out harmony, connection and meaning. My curiosity of people and personalities, and desire for deeper intimacy pulled me into the intersecting spheres of psychology, philosophy and spirituality. These wells of interest developed into a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Washington and a Masters of Counseling degree at The Seattle School of Psychology and Theology.

Presently, I continue to work with individuals of different cultures, religious or non-religious, who grapple with life issues, grief, trauma and recovery, and relationship difficulties. I take great personal joy and fulfillment in each person with whom I have the honor of unraveling life’s challenges together.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is both a science and an art. Research shows that modalities and theories do not significantly differ in their effectiveness for change. What this proves is that a considerable part of the therapeutic process is the transformation that occurs in being in a safe and loving relationship.

A skilled therapist will reflect back to you who you truly are (most of us do not have “clean mirrors” in our lives, nor such honesty in relationship) to help you understand your impact on others and the ripple effects that may occur in your way of relating. This way of relating typically creates a pattern in our lives that may cause unnecessary suffering and pain, loneliness and emptiness in our relationships.

A good therapist will also help you to heal old wounds and false beliefs about yourself and the world in the context of the therapeutic relationship. In this safe place, you can explore and experience a healthy and unconditional relationship.
